McDonald’s is known for a lot of things — Happy Meals, french fries, and also familiarity. There’s some very intentional uniformity in the company’s approach to its franchises, to ensure that customers have the same experience virtually wherever they are in the world. But there are a couple of exceptions to that rule, and one might be McDonald’s best kept secret.
If you’re a fan of Big Macs — or just quirky road trip trivia — you may enjoy a visit to a landmark Florida fast food location hidden right in plain sight. Since its complete overhaul in 2016, the McDonald’s on Sand Lake Road in Orlando has reigned supreme as The World’s Largest Entertainment McDonald’s. With its three stories of themed space, a soaring play area, and even an arcade, it earns its “entertainment” title by being just as much an attraction as it is a fast food restaurant.

Located between Walt Disney World and Universal Studios and only a few miles away from each, The World’s Largest Entertainment McDonald’s makes a unique pit stop for those on their way to any of Orlando’s many sights and attractions. I’m always up for a fun family adventure, and since this world record was right on our route, I made it a must-see for us on a recent visit to Orlando.

As soon as you enter the parking lot you’ll realize that everything about this place is unique and larger than life. A giant 30 foot tall neon Ronald McDonald greets (or startles) you outside, and 19,000 square feet of space spread over three soaring stories await you inside. Ceiling-high glass windows overlook the bustling Orlando roads, and ample, modern seating on three floors welcomes guests any time of day or night in this 24-hour location.

We loved the stylish design of the interior. The building’s sleek lines are accented with colorful gemometric patterns, and multiple open-kitchen layouts caught our attention for their very un-McDonald’s-like feel.

Modern interepretations of the McDonald’s characters even line the walls by the various seating layouts.

There is definitely an awareness of the tourism crowd here, which adds to the entertainment aspect of the restaurant.

But let’s get to the aspect of this record-setting McDonald’s that we found most unique. It wasn’t the size, or the gaggles of kids running around the arcade. It was the menu! Food offerings that made us say, “Are we sure this is a McDonalds?!”

To most people, this location’s menu might be one of the McDonald’s corporation’s best kept secrets. But it’s not much of a secret menu at all once you’re inside. Offerings like Philly cheesesteaks, made-to-order pasta dishes with custom toppings, and elevated desserts like cheesecake and chocolate peanut butter pie are available every day of the year at this McDonald’s. And not since the late ’80s could you get “McPizza” at a McDonald’s — but here you can! Another distinction of the World’s Largest Entertainment McDonald’s is that it’s the only location in the world that serves freshly made pizza to order! And what a fun surprise it was to watch the employees making it right in front of us!

So what’s our review of this one-of-a-kind McMenu? I should include a disclaimer about our taste tests — we didn’t expect much. We’re from the New York area, where we hold pizza and pasta to unnaturally high standards. We figured a fast food chain not even known for Italian food would not be great. And, well? The pasta lived up to our low expecations. We chose cavatappi with custom veggie toppings, and it came with a slice of herbed bread. The pasta was far from al dente and the sauce tasted very manufactured, which unfortunately overpowered the fresh veggies we saw the friendly cook attentively sauté for our order.
The pizza, on the other hand, pleasantly surprised us! It’s not the world’s McBest, but it was pretty good for the world’s McLargest! Thin crust, decent seasonings, and none of the chewy frozen feel of typical chain or theme park pizza. If you stop by the Sand Lake McDonald’s, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try for both novelty and flavor. The desserts and ice cream sundaes are also good choices, and next time we visit we plan on trying the wild breakfast choices like waffles or ham and cheese French toast!

The unique menu certainly sets this place apart. But you may also be wonderfing why this location is called the World’s Largest “Entertainment” McDonald’s. Well, its large play and arcade areas distinguish it from other large but generic McDonald’s. Kids run freely while their french fry-noshing parents sit nearby, a nod to both the theme park mecca of Orlando as well as the prevelance of McDonald’s play places from the good ole days. Even the Mac Tonight at a floating piano evokes some ’80s nostalgia! (Apologies to readers my age and older who now have that catchy McDonald’s jingle stuck in their heads!)

But the “entertainment” part of this location’s title is now of special significance.
When we visited this location a few months ago, it still held the title of simply The World’s Largest McDonald’s. But this week, that title technically changed. On February 18, 2026, McDonald’s France opened its expanded and rebuilt McDonald’s in the Disney Village at Disneyland Paris. It stands three stories high — just like the Orlando location — but at 21,500 square feet, it now narrowly carries the title of the World’s Largest.

Though it’s slightly bigger, the Paris location is not nearly as unique. It has a clean, modern design but does not feature a soaring play space or arcade, allowing the Orlando location to still bear its “entertainment” title. Also, the Disneyland Paris location only features a traditional McDonald’s menu, and the unique offerings at the Sand Lake Orlando location are arguably what sets this spot apart.
So is The World’s Largest Entertainment McDonald’s a must-see? That depends on who you’re asking. For fast food or pop-culture history buffs, I think it is. And for other folks, it’s a fun new experience that helps you escape the ordinary. We loved checking it out and will definitely return. It’s always fun to add a little uniqueness to your family’s everyday adventures, and The World’s Largest Entertainment McDonald’s in Orlando helps makes the McMundane a little more McMagical.
